Food For Thoughts —  Commentary

Ignore all the hype you are hearing about the “issues” being debated like abortion, public options and clearing houses.  It is all a smoke screen to make it look like they are actually giving up or doing something for you—while they aren’t.  Real Reform would include proven ideas that have been excluded from the current House and Senate Bills, while inserting special interest “Buy Offs” to pass the biggest power and tax grab coup in US history.

It doesn’t take a mental giant to see through the “smoke and mirrors” our elected officials think we are too dumb to understand.

What our leaders should have passed first, but instead, have voted against in proposed amendments.
–Reduce insurance policy costs by letting individuals and small businesses form their own large buying groups to qualify for lower group rates.  This includes allowing us to buy health insurance across state lines to increase competition for our business from more existing and new insurance companies.
–Reduce medical costs by setting limits on malpractice and other  damage awards like we have had for years with State Workers’ Comp payouts.  This would drop malpractice insurance costs at least in half and promote doctors dropping their rates and encourage more students to choose becoming a doctor.
–Reduce drug costs by allowing us to buy the same drugs from Canada to stop the current price fixing to the American people.
–Establish tighter controls to stop Medicare waste and fraud by using a system like E-verify to stop payouts to “dead people”, illegal aliens, and multiple payments to the same person or company or for the same procedure.
–Etc.

Here is how the bill is getting passed against the will of 56% of Americans polled who reject the massive advertising campaigns (and guilt trips) claims that we are in a crisis and need it passed before Christmas.
–Payoff the AMA for their “support” by spending $274 Billion in a separate bill to delay cuts in Medicare reimbursements to doctors required by previous bills passed by Congress.
–Payoff the Trial Lawyers for their “silence” by excluding Tort Reform from the current bill.
–Payoff the Drug Companies for their “support” by promising not to crack down on their prices and to not require allowing purchases from Canada to stop price fixing in the US.
–Payoff the AARP for their Corporate Office support by making it possible for the AARP to sell Gap insurance at guaranteeed profits to  the millions who might get added to mandatory medical coverage (while effectively cutting Medicare payments over $450 Billion to partially “pay” for the new bill).
–Payoff the Unions by footing the bill for their underfunded “super coverage” medical benefits policies with taxpayer funds in a mandatory government run healthcare system.
–Payoff key politicians who are holding out for their “principles” with $$hundreds of millions of future taxpayer dollars in pork for their state buried in new amendments after agreements behind closed doors were made.

Intentionally or not, here is what the new Health Care bill is actually designed to do.
–Create untold new wealth for our elected officials and their cronies as the 30% cost added by government control and management of anything is divided up among themselves and their companies from our new taxes.
–Significantly increase government power over our individual lives so we see ourselves as ever more dependent on them instead of ourselves.  That way more people will vote in those who promise to give away the most (and are most successful hiding how they are getting most of the money from taxing the middle class more).
–Achieve massive growth in the number of government employees as required to provide new government offices and controls over another 16% of the entire US economy.   More government employees historically equates to more votes to protect their new government jobs forever.
–Establish the power to accomplish social goals through the new bureaucrats’ health panels who decide who gets treatment for what and when and who doesn’t.    Those who can be expected to pay taxes longer will get the first and best medical care and the rest will wait in line or be passed over entirely. Plus they would control doctor’s and all other health care providers earnings by setting what is paid for every given procedure.

Perhaps the most iritating rub of all is the blatant disregard our elected officials publically show for whatever we or our forefathers wanted for our country.  While calling anyone who disagrees with them demeaning and marginalizing names to try to drown out all intellectual dissent, they proceed with anything they want to do as if we are all of no importance to anything, much less elected them.   The repeated arrogance of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid and many others in both parties towards the majority of Americans is a clear signal they are beyond bringing back to reality–except by expelling them at the voting booths like we did those  before them.

So what can you do about it? Send our Health Care Fax to your Senators and Representative and tell them to quit playing games and pass a real bill or none at all–or start updating their resumes.   Add a personalized message to them if you wish.   Join or Sign in and then click on the  “Send Your Fax” button at the top of this page and start being heard.
